The Village at Mayfaire
Wilmington, NC
Scope:
The extent of services included a review of the architectural elements associated with sound isolation between living spaces and construction administration including monthly field inspections and testing.
Challenges:
The project is wood frame construction with a design goal to provide luxury living spaces for new condominium owners. When attempting to achieve this level of performance the details in construction driving the performance are often overlooked.
Solutions:
SSA reviewed all drawings and coordinated the design details with the project team. Monthly field inspections and field testing were conducted to ensure that the details associated with acoustics had been accounted for and assemblies are performing as expected. All floors and walls separating living spaces were tested for Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Impact Insulation Class (IIC) in 13 buildings of the project.
