Timberline High School

Thurston County, WA

McGranahan Architects

Acoustical design was provided for architectural, HVAC mechanical noise control/sound and multi-media systems.

The building design strives to address both the functional and aesthetic considerations as documented in the Educational Specifications. Each classroom wing is organized to contain groupings of classrooms for each department, but are also flexible, allowing for different curriculum models to easily fit into the classroom layout. Departmental groups can be located adjacent to complementary groups to facilitate interaction between the different subjects.

The Commons and the adjacent main entry lobby serves as the nucleus of the majority of academic spaces in the school. The three classroom wings, library, administration and student services surround this two story space, allowing this “Great Hall” to become the heart of the school.
