Pioneer Elementary School

Services:

Developed solutions for controlling environmental noise and designed elements for architectural and engineering acoustics, including noise transmission from music rooms and mechanical spaces and exterior sources to more sensitive learning spaces, such as classrooms, libraries and offices.

Features:

An environmental noise assessment was completed to determine the impact that noise from the highway would have on the new school. Environmental noise monitors and ENM software were used to document noise levels and determine sound propagation. We designed a berm/barrier wall with an opening for traffic to reduce noise from the highway. To reduce costs, the berm was built using existing dirt rather than importing it to the site. Our recommendations included the berm barrier, path and plants were incorporated with the landscape architect in the final design.
